Blastball ( Learn to play level 1 ) ages 4-5
Blastball is an “ introduction to play “ division. The emphasis is on FUN with an opportunity to learn basic softball techniques and skills. Athletic activities and lead up games are played with a soft mush ball in order that the children are able to have fun in a safe, action packed environment. Co-ed teams are limited to only 5 or 6 players for maximum involvement. Blastball promotes FUN, SAFETY, ACTION and SKILL DEVELOPMENT.
Parents can ask friends and neighbours of like age children to form teams which they may wish to coach themselves. Teams are co-ed. An instruction manual is provided to assist and guide volunteers for the 8 weeks.
Play days are Tues. and Thurs. for 8 weeks beginning April 29 and ending June 19. Games are played New Westminster elementary school fields and Terry Hughes park. Games begin at 6:30 pm and last 1 – 1 ¼ hour.
An appropriately
sized glove is required for each player. Players receive a Blastball
T-shirt and hat which they can keep. Note:

T- ball ( Learn to play level 2 ) age 6
The T-ball
division combines softball skill development
games and athletic fitness activities with an
emphasis on hand / eye coordination and
elementary softball game action. Teams are
co-ed. Games are 1- 1 ¼ hours and play days are
Tues. and Thurs at 6:30 pm. A soft mush ball is
still used for the children’s safety. The T-ball
season begins April 29 and ending June 19.
Players learn fielding, throwing and hitting
basics. Games are played at the fields of the
New Westminster elementary schools and Terry
Hughes Park. T-ball players receive a t-shirt
and hat which they can keep. Note: Parent

Mini- Mite ages 7-8
The Mini- Mite
division combines coaches pitching with some
player pitching. There is a greater emphasis on
skill development and team concepts. For the
2007 season, the Association is anticipating
that teams will play “ three pitch “ for the
first few innings of the game for the first half
of the season. This will give the girls and boys
an opportunity for more “ at bats” in the first
half of the season. Play days are Mon. and Wed. at
6:30 pm begining in early April until the end of
June. Games are generally are 60 – 75 min.
Pitching distance is 25 feet and walks are
allowed. Players receive a hat which they keep.

Mite Girls ages 9-10
Players in the Mite division are now divided into separate Mite girl and Mite boys teams. The girls begin to travel out of New Westminster to play teams in Burnaby softball teams in the beginning of April. Their home games will be played at Moody Park, Grimston or Sapperton Park. Play days are Tues. and Thurs. and their season ends in mid June.
In the Mite
division bunting, stealing and sliding is
introduced. Coach pitching and player pitching
with a 11 inch ball from 30 feet is combined
during games to maximize enjoyment of the game
for players, coaches and parents. Games are
played on Tues. and Thurs. beginning at 6:30 pm.
with no new innings to begin after 8:00 pm.
Coaches generally ask players to be at the field
30 min. in advance of game time to warm-up.
Interlock play begins in early April until the
end of June. There may be 1 or 2 practices per
week. Teams may also play at a weekend Softball
B.C. sanctioned tournament. Players receive a
hat and socks which they can keep.

Mite Boys ages 9-10
Players in the Mite division are now divided into separate Mite girl and Mite boys teams. Mite boys interlock with Burnaby and Richmond boys teams. Their home games will be played at Moody , Grimston or Sapperton parks. Games are played on Mon. and Wed. evenings beginning at 6:30 pm. with no new innings to begin after 8:00 pm. Coaches generally ask players to be at the field 30 min. in advance of game time to warm-up. Their season will begin in early Apr. and finish at the end of June. The teams also may be involved in a weekend Softball B.C. tournament during their season. Coaches may also schedule 1 or 2 practices a week. Players receive a hat and socks which they can keep.

Squirt Girls, ages 11- 12 years
Squirt girls
travel to play interlock games with teams from
Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port
Coquitlam. Player pitching from 35 feet is now
in effect; coaches no longer do any pitching..
Interlock play begin at the beginning of Apr.
and ends at the end of June. Home games will be
at Moody Park or Sapperton Park Play days are
Tues. and Thurs.; games start at 6:30 pm and no
new inning begins after 8:00 pm. Coaches
generally ask players to be at the field 30 min.
in advance of the start time in order to
warm-up. Squirt girls may also be involved in
Association and District playoffs the 1st two
weekends of June. There is usually 1 or 2
practices per week and teams may compete in a
weekend Softball B.C. tournament. Squirt girls
may also participate in District playoffs in
June to qualify to go to Provincials in July.
Players will receive a hat and socks which they
can keep.

North Delta. Games begin in early Apr. and
continue through June. Games start at 6:30 PM.

Squirt boys are Grimston, Moody and Sapperton
parks. Coaches generally ask players to be at
the field 30- 45 min. in advance of the game
time in order to warm-up. There is usually 1-2
practices per week. Teams may also compete in a
weekend tournament. Squirt boys may also
participate in District playoffs in June to
qualify to go to Provincials in July. Players
will receive a hat and socks which they can
keep.

Peewee Girls, ages 13- 14
Peewee girls
players travel to play games in Burnaby,
Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam. Play
days are Mon. and Wed. and game start times are
6:30 pm. Their league play begins at the
beginning of Apr. to the end of June. Home games
will be played at Moody or Sapperton parks with
no new inning to begin after 8:00 pm. Coaches
ask players to be at the field 30- 45 min. prior
to game time to warm-up. There is usually 1-2
practices per week. These teams may also
participate in a weekend Softball B.C.
tournament. Peewee girls may also participate in
District playoffs in June to go to Provincials
in July. Pitchers now pitch from 38 feet with a
12 inch ball.

North Delta. Play days are Mon. and Wed. with
games beginning at 6:30 pm. and with no new
inning to begin after 8:00 pm. Their play will

June. Coaches generally ask players to be at the
fields 30-45 min. ahead in order to warm-up.
There are usually 1-2 practices per week.
Peewees may also enter a weekend tournament
during the season. Peewee boys may also
participate in District playoffs in June in
order to qualify to go to Provincials in July.

Bantam Girls, ages 15-16 years
Bantam girls
travel to play games in Burnaby, Coquitlam and
Port Coquitlam. Play days are Tues. and Thurs.
with games starting at 6:30 pm. Home games will
be at Moody and Sapperton parks. Games are
generally 90- 120 min. The Bantam player’s
season begins in early Apr. and finishes at the
end of June. They may also play weekend
tournaments during the season. Pitchers pitch
from 40 feet with a 12 inch ball.

Midget C Girls, ages 17-19 years
Midget Girls play
games on Mon. and Wed. evenings versus teams
from Richmond, Burnaby, Port Moody and Port
Coquitlam. Their season begins in early April
until the end of June. Home games begin at 6:30
pm. at Terry Hughes Park at Glenbrook Middle
School. The New Westminster Royals will
participate in 4-5 weekend tournaments and will
try to qualify through District 6 Playoffs in
June to return to Provincial C Championships in
July 2007.
