Blastball (Learn to play level 1) ages 4-5
Blastball is an “ introduction to play “ division. The emphasis is on FUN with an opportunity to learn basic softball techniques and skills. Athletic activities and lead up games are played with a soft mush ball in order that the children are able to have fun in a safe, action packed environment. Co-ed teams are limited to only 5 or 6 players for maximum involvement. Blastball promotes FUN, SAFETY, ACTION and SKILL DEVELOPMENT.
Parents can ask friends and neighbours of like age children to form teams which they may wish to coach themselves. Teams are co-ed. An instruction manual is provided to assist and guide volunteers for the 8 weeks.
Games played twice a week for 8 weeks beginning April and ending June. Games are played New Westminster elementary school fields and Terry Hughes park. Games begin at 6:00 pm and last 1 – 1 ¼ hour.
An appropriately sized glove is required for each player. Players receive a Blastball T-shirt and hat which they can keep.

T- ball (Learn to play level 2) age 6
The T-ball division combines softball skill development games and athletic fitness activities with an emphasis on hand / eye coordination and elementary softball game action. Teams are co-ed. Games played twice a week for 1- 1 ¼ hours and start at 6:00 pm. A soft mush ball is still used for the children’s safety. The T-ball season begins April and ending June. Players learn fielding, throwing and hitting basics. Games are played at the fields of the New Westminster elementary schools and Terry Hughes Park. T-ball players receive a t-shirt and hat which they can keep.

Mini- Mite (Learn to play level 3) ages 7-8
The Mini- Mite division combines coaches pitching with some player pitching. There is a greater emphasis on skill development and team concepts. Teams may play “ three pitch “ for the first few innings of the game for the first half of the season. This will give the girls and boys an opportunity for more “ at bats” in the first half of the season. Games played twice a week at 6:00 pm beginning in early April until the end of June. Games are generally 60 – 75 min. Pitching distance is 25 feet and walks are allowed. Players receive a hat which they keep.

Mite
Girls (U 10) ages 9-10
Players in the Mite division are now divided into separate Mite girl and Mite boys teams. The girls begin to travel out of New Westminster to play teams in Burnaby softball teams in the beginning of April. Their home games will be played at Moody Park, Grimston or Sapperton Park. Games played twice a week from early April until end of June. Games beginning at 6:30 pm. with no new innings to begin after 8:00 pm. There may be 1 or 2 practices per week. Teams may also play at a weekend Softball B.C. sanctioned tournament. Coaches generally ask players to be at the field 30 min. in advance of game time to warm-up.
In the Mite division bunting, stealing and
sliding is introduced. Coach pitching and player
pitching with a 11 inch ball from 30 feet is
combined during games to maximize enjoyment of
the game for players, coaches and parents. Players receive a
hat and socks which they can keep.
Squirt Girls (U 12) ages 11- 12 years
Squirt girls
travel to play interlock games with teams from
Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port
Coquitlam. Player pitching from 35 feet is now
in effect; coaches no longer do any pitching..
Interlock play begin at the beginning of Apr.
and ends at the end of June. Home games will be
at Moody Park or Sapperton Park. PGames played
twice a week. Games start at 6:30 pm and no
new inning begins after 8:00 pm. Coaches
generally ask players to be at the field 30 min.
in advance of the start time in order to
warm-up. Squirt girls may also be involved in
Association and District playoffs the 1st two
weekends of June. There is usually 1 or 2
practices per week and teams may compete in a
weekend Softball B.C. tournament. Squirt girls
may also participate in District playoffs in
June to qualify to go to Provincials in July.
Players will receive a hat and socks which they
can keep.
Peewee Girls (U 14) ages 13- 14
Peewee girls
players travel to play games in Burnaby,
Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam. Games
played twice a week and game start times are
6:30 pm with no new inning to begin after 8:00
pm. Their league play begins at the
beginning of Apr. to the end of June. Home games
will be played at Moody or Sapperton parks Coaches
ask players to be at the field 30- 45 min. prior
to game time to warm-up. There is usually 1-2
practices per week. These teams may also
participate in a weekend Softball B.C.
tournament. Peewee girls may also participate in
District playoffs in June to go to Provincials
in July. Pitchers now pitch from 38 feet with a
12 inch ball.
Bantam Girls (U 16) ages 15-16 years
Bantam girls
travel to play games in Burnaby, Coquitlam and
Port Coquitlam. Games played twice a week
with games starting at 6:30 pm. Home games will
be at Moody and Sapperton parks. Games are
generally 90- 120 min. The Bantam player’s
season begins in early Apr. and finishes at the
end of June. They may also play weekend
tournaments during the season. Pitchers pitch
from 40 feet with a 12 inch ball.
Midget C Girls (U 19) ages 17-19 years
Midget Girls play
games twice a week versus teams
from Richmond, Burnaby, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam. Their season begins in early April
until the end of June. Home games begin at 6:30
pm. at Terry Hughes Park at Glenbrook Middle
School. They may also play weekend tournaments
during the season and will
try to qualify through District 6 Playoffs in
June.
